Power and homes in University Place
Who supplies the power: Tacoma Power, the same public utility as Tacoma itself, so service work here runs through Tacoma Power rather than a private company.
The typical home in University Place was built around 1981, and 48% of homes predate 1980. Many still have their original panel and service, sized before car chargers, heat pumps and hot tubs were common, so adding any of them usually starts with whether the panel can carry it.
Housing figures: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020 to 2024.
